Topic: Reciprocity Trusts: Transforming the Terms of our Presence on Indigenous Lands
Presenter: Dorothy Hodgins
What happens when the government has already transferred big chunks of Indigenous land (or thousands of little chunks) to private property owners without Indigenous consent? With over three collective decades of experience working with First Nations on land rights issues, Reciprocity Trusts offers a new way for those who live, work, and play on Indigenous lands to understand their responsibilities and terms of belonging. Join us on April 16th to explore local histories of colonial dispossession and learn how Reciprocity Trusts works to challenge ways the private property system upholds settler colonialism.

Dorothy Hodgins (BA) is the Communications and Engagement Coordinator for Reciprocity Trusts, where she provides public education, facilitates community connections and creates opportunities for non-Indigenous guests to express gratitude for their presence on Indigenous lands. She has a background in equity service design and works with First Nations on impact assessments, traditional use studies, and socio-economic assessments.
See you there! Bring a pal.
